Second Prize for "Parallel Environment"

Department of Information Engineering, The Division of Engineering,
The University of Tokyo
Mr. Usa Haruhiko

I'm very pleased to have received the 2nd prize in the parallel environment category for two years running. Many of my academic colleagues have taken part in this contest, so I had the opportunity to compete with them for the highest speed. This might have resulted in our programs being developed to a higher level. However, no one was able to win the 1st prize, suggesting that we were not able to display KL1's capabilities sufficiently. We need to study parallel programming in KL1 in greater depth! Programming the "life game" brought home to me the high parallel efficiency of KL1 and made me more aware of the good performance of KLIC. Finally, it is a pleasure to acknowledge the generosity and encouragement of my colleagues.
