For both categories for sequential environment and parallel environment, the subjects were designed to attract more advanced programmers' interest in the KL1 programming language and parallel processing. Consequently, the level of the subjects was more advanced than those in the previous contest, and we are aware that some applicants did not have enough time to complete their programs because of the difficulty of the subjects.
So the level of programs was higher, but the number of entries was fewer than 50 and that of applied programs was 18, far fewer than we expected.
In the next contest, we will try to attract more programmers by setting up another entry course for programming beginners.
Finally, we would like to congratulate the award nominees, and we hope that those applicants who did not win awards this time will come back nest year to try again.
We wish to thank all the contest committee members, staff and supporters for their cooperation in the contest.
